How to choose a skateboard?

Are you planning to cruise around the city or show off your skills at the skatepark? We'll guide you on which skateboard suits you best and reveal the key factors for selection. This way, you’ll be able to level up your ride and enjoy it even more!

Deck Width – A narrow deck is faster and easier to spin into a flip (a trick involving a jump and rotation). A wider deck offers more stability, especially while riding and landing.

Deck Curvature – Low curvature provides stability but slower foot response. It's great for beginners learning the basics. High curvature responds quickly and intensely to foot pressure, making it ideal for advanced riders. If you're unsure, go for a medium curve.

Truck Size – Low trucks provide stability, while high trucks allow better jumps and faster wheels. With pre-assembled boards, you won’t need to worry too much, but keep in mind that large wheels won't fit low trucks.

Wheel Size – Smaller wheels are slower, which is great for beginners. They keep the board closer to the ground, making it easier to get the back end up during tricks. Larger wheels make the board faster but require more skill to control.

Wheel Hardness – Soft wheels provide better grip, are quiet, and slower, making them perfect for city rides. Harder wheels are faster, with less grip, and are better suited for skatepark or ramp riding.

Deck Material – The best decks are made of Canadian maple, which is extremely durable and flexible. A mid-range option is made from beech or oak, which is cheaper but still durable. The cheapest option is plastic or laminate decks, which tend to crack and may not last as long.

Grip – A rough grip keeps your foot secure at high speeds. However, it can damage your shoes quickly if you're doing tricks. Smooth grip is gentler on shoes and allows more foot movement, which is beneficial for skatepark use.
