The Haven NIB photochromic sunglasses, also known as self-tinting, are designed to react to ultraviolet light. The lenses darken in bright light conditions, i.e., under UV radiation. Without UV light activation, the lenses remain almost clear. They adjust their tint based on the brightness of the light. In certain situations, photochromic sunglasses darken only slightly, such as when a room is brightened by sunlight. The tint change occurs within tens of seconds... if you move from bright sunlight into a forest, the lenses won’t lighten instantly and vice versa... it’s a process that takes tens of seconds. Combined with 100% UV protection, self-tinting lenses ensure comfort and eye health year-round. Photochromic sunglasses work with molecules. Silver halide and silver chloride molecules are responsible for the lenses changing color, allowing them to darken in bright light conditions and lighten in darker environments or areas without direct sunlight. When exposed to UV radiation, billions of photochromic molecules temporarily change their structure. As a large number of molecules change shape simultaneously, the lens surface darkens. The result is sunglasses that darken in bright sunlight and lighten in darker environments, all without any intervention other than exposure to sunlight. The NIB model in all color variants comes with a frame insert that can be easily secured into the sunglasses frame. It can, of course, be repeatedly removed and reattached. It fits securely, making it suitable for sports.
